A new coat of paint in the interior of your home can do more than just change the color of your walls. It can go a long way towards making your house a home that you love. Accent Fabulous Features

If your home has beautiful crown molding or other striking architectural features. A new coat of paint can go a long way to accent these features and add to the overall look and feel of your home. Features that deserve to be shown off include:

  • Trim and molding
  • Beams
  • Angular walls

For the best effect, choose a color that contrasts the feature. For example. White crown molding can be accentuated with a beautiful jewel-tone emerald paint color or, for a less striking look, a creamy beige paint color.

Hide Flaws

You may feel that instead of showing off some features that there are some that you would rather hide. If that is the case, you can use a new coat of paint to do that as well. Play down walls with uneven texture, dents, and other imperfections with darker colors such as burgundy or a rich gray. Other features that can be hidden with the right coat of paint include a radiator and wiring. Also, to really make sure these flaws are hidden, choose matte or flat latex paint instead of high gloss. Because less light will be reflecting off your wall, items that you wish to hide will be less visible.

Create A Cohesive Vibe

To create a cohesive look for your home, you may want to choose to repeat the same paint color throughout your home, changing up the shade if you wish. This technique can allow your house to look unified but avoid looking matchy-matchy. One way to do this is to choose a bold color like a deep chocolate brown that you include in, for example, your great room; you can repeat this color throughout your home in the same bold tone as accent walls and/or in a more subdued tone like a creamy mocha.

Enlarge Small Rooms

The color of paint that you choose can create an significant effect on the perceived size of a room. A monochromatic tone that is used for your wall, trim, and even large pieces of furniture can help make a small space feel bigger than it actually is. You can also utilize stripes to your advantage: vertical stripes create height while horizontal stripes accentuate the width of a room. If you want your room to look taller or wider, talk to our interior painters about how paint color and techniques can help!

Add Coziness to A Huge Room

Paint can also work wonders for a large room. If you have a room that needs to feel less expansive, use paint! A warm shade, like a buttery yellow, adds an element of coziness to your room. You can also try using stenciling or Venetian plastering on a wall for an eye-catching element that can not only add a signature look but help your room feel a little more intimate.
